A "Bed Turning" is a way of introducing quilters and non-quilters to the beauty of antique or unique quilts
in an interesting and different way.
Most appropriately presented at a quilt show or a guild meeting, a bed is brought in and quilts are placed
on the bed. As each quilt is turned and held up for the audience, I describe the quilt, date the quilt, and give
the story of the quilt.
This program has been presented several times at large quilt shows, and the audience is always most appreciative
and intrigued with the stories of the quilts.
The quilts I use in this presentation date from the late 1800s to today's contemporary quilts, and each
one has an interesting history.......from a velvet puff quilt made at the turn of the century, to a 1920s Drunkard's Path
quilt made by teetotaling grandmothers and great-grandmothers, to an Indian Warrior's quilt, to an award-winning
quilt made by an internationally known quilter, which now resides at Foots Creek Farms, the home of The Quilted Rooster.........and
many other interesting and different quilts and quilt-related items.
This program presents quilting in a new and different way. It is NOT your Mama's BOQP -- Boring
Old Quilt Program!
